Name: Yasuraka, Mitsuki.
Age: 26 on arrival, now 29.
Birthdate: February 13th.
Academy: North School.
Decks: Zombie Return.
Signature Cards: Book Of Life, Il Blud and Zombie Master.
Known Family: Both parents raised him in Odaiba, and he has two older brothers; one works for local government and the other in retail. He doesn't keep in contact much due to work, especially with his new job. He was engaged to be married, but ask about it and he'll either pretend he doesn't know you, or talk if he respects you.

Physical and Mental:
Description: Mitsuki is of average height, nor of gaunt or stocky build. He is a brunette, and his fringe is brushed down to frame his cheeks and reaches his eyes. He wears one of the North School cloaks; a brown coat, with an ankle-length hem, heavy material and wool lining. He wears a red jumper underneath, as well as trousers, socks and boots, as the submarine is chill and damp. Around his neck, he wears one of two scarves – orange, or yellow, black and midnight-blue. Inside his left pocket is a box that contains his deck, and there are no personal items. His eyes are green.

Personality: Mitsuki’s personality has changed. When he first came to Duel Academy, he was a more thoughtful being, with an appreciation for flora. And he now cares nothing for it, save for growing vegetables. When Mitsuki endures psychological trauma, he is unable to bear his faults. He blames everything but himself; in evidence, when faced with evidence of his failure, he turned and ran. To be called ‘traitor’ and ‘coward’ – those are weak points guaranteed to send him into a rage.

Mitsuki feels no shame at being cold and untoward to Duel Academia students; they are not his problem or responsibility. He cares for them as children - he is still a human being. But they are reminders of a life he scrapped, and now he works to rebuild himself. The fact he chooses Ichinose and North School over the Academy and the friends he made is the result of his subconscious need to keep away from his family. He knows where North School is situated, so there's no way he can visit his family once they return to the Arctic.

Recently, Ichinose called Mitsuki his successor. When asked, he told Mitsuki why – he has a good heart. He cares for students in right way, but lets them preserve their character. He helps others, but lets them be true to themselves. This has given Mitsuki the drive to work harder. He wants recognition and to be trusted. Although he may be lured by power, he wants it for the right reasons – to protect those who matter.

Character History:
History: From Odaiba, a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, Mitsuki is the youngest of three male siblings. The family home is shadowed by residential halls, and a lack of space means the brothers shared one room; he grew up with little privacy. His father works at the Fuji Television Studios. Now all three are grown, his mother has a job in the Aqua City shopping mall. Mitsuki’s brothers were adults during Battle City. He was 16 to 19. GX canon timeline blah blah blah na no nae.

Kasai Rinkai Park in Edogawa became his favourite place; he sought peace outside the family home. He visits the bird sanctuary and stands under one cherry blossom tree, watching the day pass. But Mitsuki retreats during the ‘hanami’ period of spring; he dislikes noise generated by crowds. He qualified at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and worked there, in its botanic garden, until Duel Academy opened. It was during this short period he learnt how to duel. His application as a botanist had motive; the need to get away from his family. Mitsuki beat fifty students and was hired.

The career he’d made progressed smoothly, until the Academy was infiltrated by the Society of Light. This bore no personal danger; what affected him personally was the arrival of Yubel, who teleported the Academy to a world of sand. He was due to be married to a lady named Yoshida Kameko. They had set a date, but the teleportation of the island snatched him from his own wedding. He was unable to explain the supernatural consequences and they separated. This affected him psychologically, and he became mentally fragile. He victimised the students. Kaiba Seto told him to go on vacation; Mitsuki overreacted and brought it all to an end. He left Duel Academy.

Shit happens. The boat was ruined, and a half-drowned Mitsuki was pulled onto North School’s submarine. Coughing up water, he was unable to avoid Ichinose – who was sinisterly masked. They began talking, and Mitsuki reassessed his life. He blamed Duel Academia for his problems, but not what happened. He lost his plant deck and chose to cast away what had meaning. Ichinose decided to have him build a deck of forty cards, and at that time gave Mitsuki Il Blud. Mitsuki began to build his deck out of scattered cards. They arrived at Duel Academy, and due to recognition of character and applicable talent, and his ability to win a duel, Mitsuki was hired. Because he would have died, Mitsuki respects Ichinose highly. The man saved his life, but there’s more. He was given a second chance and that, to Mitsuki, means everything.

They had come for the tournament. He developed a business partnership with Daitokuji, who offered his ability to understand and translate hieratic script when Mitsuki posted to the community needing aid. The two worked on translating the Book Of Life, a tome Mitsuki had recently acquired that would give him the ability to understand and perform necromancy. This work was interrupted by the arrival of Darkness. He guided North School students back to the submarine; he doesn’t remember how many succeeded. Mitsuki then sacrificed his life to protect everyone from Sorano’s clones because he is a teacher and an adult. They were children and students. He defeated two Sorano clones, lost to a third, and doesn’t remember losing to Sora’s Griggle of all things, or anything he did when part of Darkness. But he duelled for the right reasons – to protect. He came back when Juudai defeated Darkness.

After that drama, Mitsuki’s change in outlook was highlighted by how he lied to Juudai that his friends were dead. He was confronted and they duelled. Mitsuki won, and regarding himself to be right, and showing conceit and pride, told Juudai he should be grateful; his true enemies wouldn’t be considerate and would hit him in the same place – where it would hurt and do emotional damage. Juudai then overheard a meeting with Daitokuji, where the two discussed bringing the dead man back to life. The cost was the permanent destruction of a soul. The two were left with a stark warning about their choice; and Juudai’s words went unheeded when Balter, an evil Duel Spirit, targeted a North School student. Mitsuki faced it in a Dark Game, and took what he sought – a soul to use for the rebirth. He then became involved with Apophis when the monster appeared at the harbour. He gave Juudai Life Equaliser after observing several duels against the Ka. Mitsuki was sly, quick to observe strategy, and genuinely respectful of the monster’s power. His life was forecast by Apophis, whose armour he decayed and exploited; he would become the same as Balter.

"In Egypt, the whole notion of tampering with the dead for any reason was looked upon with great horror. Necromancers would have been the worst of the worst, allies of Apophis who sought to upturn order and tradition.”

The resulting prophecy was unquestionable, but Mitsuki maintains his integrity. He sought a crow, killed it, and used its corpse as the first trial of his new ability. But it was strangled and broken. Needing power, his emotional resolve is tested by corruption and love as he seeks to protect what matters.

Extra Stuff:
Extra Abilities: Necromancy. Knowledge of the dead, summoning of departed spirits. Divination by means of ghosts, and divination from corpses. The disinterment of corpses and rifling of graves for grisly charms, both for his protection and to compel the corpse or ghost to submit to his will.

World of Darkness Nightmare: Disrespect; to be a laughing stock with no value or merit, the bottom of the barrel. He works to seek approval and there's no praise. He is used, snubbed, taken for granted.
